KUALA LUMPUR: The Zakat Collection Centre of the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (PPZ-MAIWP) is organising the Business Zakat Payee Support Campaign (SPPZ) 2018 to encourage Muslim traders and companies to pay zakat (tithe).
PPZ-MAIWP chairman Datuk Che Mat Che Ali said the three-month campaign ending this May 15, was initiated in collaboration with the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM).
” We will go from door to door to meet the traders and business community in order to create awareness of their obligation to fulfil the fourth pillar of Islam.
“This campaign is also to remind traders the wisdom of paying zakat for the purification of their property,” he told reporters after visiting traders around Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Wisma Yakin in conjunction with the campaign here today.
Also present were PPZ-MAIWP acting chief executive officer Abdul Hakim Amir Osman and PPIM head Datuk Nadzim Johan.
Che Mat said the campaign also aimed to increase PPZ-MAIWP’s zakat collection as well as to bring the agency closer to the traders and business community so as to prevent them from going to unauthorised zakat collectors or agents.
For more information, the public can contact the agency at 1-300-88-5757 or visit its website www.zakat.com.my. — Bernama
