5791) I AM SORRY - HOT BURGER FOUNDER - MALAYSIA GAZETTE - 10/08/2020

KUALA LUMPUR – The Founder of Hot Burger Malaysia, Mohd Asri Hamid apologised to the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and other traders following his recent disclosure on the illegal gambling and businesses in Sungai Buloh.

According to him, he did not expect his revelation to receive massive public attention.

Mohd Asri said that he only wanted to share the real problem faced by the community of the area and had no intention to cause any dissatisfaction.

“To the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and other businesses, I apologise. Truly, I have no problem with the local authority and I am not angry.

“I was only a little envious when the MBSA disturbed my shop but did not take any action on the shops selling illegal cigarettes and illegal gambling operators. They could operate until 3.00 am when other premises have closed,” he said in a Facebook Live video on the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) Facebook page today.

The Chief Activist of PPIM, Datuk Nadzim Johan was also seen in the live video.

Earlier, a video uploaded by Mohd Asri went viral. The video contained allegations that the enforcers did not take actions on premises conducting illegal activities around the Sungai Buloh industrial area.

The man uploaded the video after several burger stalls were confiscated by the MBSA for selling burgers at night when the illegal premises owned by foreigners and illegal gambling premises were allowed to operate.

Nevertheless, the Sungai Buloh District Police Chief, Supt Shafa’aton Abu Bakar denied the allegations.

According to Shafa’aton, the police had conducted 40 raids and made 132 arrests on gambling at the area as of July this year.

Mohd Asri also explained that he has lodged an official report to the police on the gambling premises three months ago, followed by a report to the Integrity Department of PDRM.

However, the premises were only closed for a while but they returned and expanded their operations, as if, they were trying to challenge him.

Meanwhile, Mohd Asri also said that he did not receive any threats from anyone yet.

Elaborating further, Mohd Asri also requested the community to stop condemning the police.

He said, everyone should come together to assist the authorities in curbing illegal gambling and other immoral activities.

“Please stop condemning the police. They are our hope,” he added.
