KUALA LUMPUR: A MAN’S selfless act to forgo his auction downpayment of RM44,500 for a house occupied by a financially troubled family has caught the attention of the Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM). Lee Hui Sen, who penned a letter to the family, whose house was auctioned off following arrears in monthly instalments, had his story circulated on Facebook. PPIM president Datuk Nadzim Johan said they had been searching for Lee for the past two months, but to no avail. The association wanted to reward and acknowledge Lee for his selfless act. “We cannot get hold of him. “Some people said he was a teacher, but we could not find any records of him. “I implore anyone who knows Lee or any of his family members to contact PPIM, so we can reward his good deed and solve the plight of an unfortunate family.” Nadzim said if they could get in touch with Lee, PPIM would like to discuss on easing the occupant’s instalment schedule, as the downpayment paid by Lee could be channelled as such. However, he said the matter must be deliberated with the bank. He said the family had taken a RM200,000 loan 15 years ago to purchase the house, but could not keep up with the instalments after the father lost his job. The situation led to a foreclosure. In a Facebook post that had gone viral, Lee had put down the downpayment for an auctioned house. When he found out that the family was in a financial crisis, he changed his mind about purchasing the property and left a heartwarming letter in the mailbox. The family shared the letter with PPIM, who are now looking for Lee to thank him for his act that had been lauded by Netizens and Malaysians.
