KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- The Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) will organise the 2026 National Anti-Scam Awareness Programme on Aug 20 to strengthen public awareness and protection against digital financial fraud and the misuse of "mule accounts".
PPIM chief activist and co-founder Datuk Nadzim Johan said the programme, scheduled from 9 am to 2 pm at the Royale Chulan Damansara Hotel here, will emphasise education and knowledge-sharing to equip the public with a better understanding of emerging financial scams.
"The programme is expected to attract about 200 participants, comprising representatives from ministries and government agencies, financial institutions, law enforcement agencies, higher education institutions, non-governmental organisations and industry players," he told Bernama today.
He said a key feature of the programme would be a national forum titled "Digital Scams: Threats to National Financial Security and Mule Accounts, featuring experts from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the National Financial Crime Prevention Centre (NFCC), and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).
Nadzim said participants would also have the opportunity to visit an interactive anti-scam awareness exhibition and engage in strategic networking sessions to foster closer and more proactive collaboration among relevant agencies.
The programme is expected to serve as an important platform for strengthening collective efforts to address the growing threat of digital financial fraud and protect consumers from becoming victims or unwitting accomplices in financial crimes.
